As part of this service, we will:

  • Position your cooker to the room of your choice
  • Disconnect your old cooker*
  • Install the new one and wire it up
  • Test everything is working correctly and take you through the key features

Before ordering installation, you should ensure that:

  • Your new appliance fits where you would like it
  • If you have a cooker hood, there is at least 65cm (26 inches) between it and the hob
  • There is a working power point within half a metre of the new appliance
  • There are no cupboards directly above the appliance, or combustible materials (e.g. wood or wallpaper) behind the cooking space
  • The existing wiring is not routed under plaster or tiles

It’s also a good idea to make sure that there is a clear path through your home for our installation team and you do not require any carpentry or plumbing work carried out for your new appliance.

Finally, we can only install in domestic properties.

*Please note that if you are replacing a gas cooker with an electric one, you will need to have the gas cooker disconnected by a Gas Safe registered engineer before we can install your new cooker.

Gas / Dual fuel freestanding and range cookers

Installation service costs £89.99

All gas installations are carried out by our own Gas Safe registered engineers. (Gas Safe is the new gas safety register for engineers, which replaced the CORGI register from 1st April 2009.)

As part of our delivery and installation service, we will:

  • Disconnect your old product
  • Install the new one and connect it to an existing gas supply – we can extend existing pipe work by up to 1m
  • Test everything to make sure it works and meets all current legislation
  • Connect an electric cable for the pilot light, if required
  • For safety reasons, we will also test for gas leaks

Before ordering installation, you should check that:

  • You check if your new appliance needs to be FSD compatible
  • Your new purchase fits where you would like it
  • If you have a cooker hood, there is at least 76cm (30 inches) between it and the hob; the gap between the cooker and base unit must be at least 2cm (~1 inch)
  • There is a working and accessible gas supply within one metre of the new appliance; and an electric socket within half a metre if the appliance has non-battery electrical ignition
  • You are using a natural gas supply (rather than LPG)
  • Electrical points directly above cooking surfaces are blanked off
  • There are no cupboards directly above the appliance, or combustible materials (e.g. wood or wallpaper) behind the cooking space

It’s also a good idea to make sure that there is a clear path through your home for our installation team and you do not require any carpentry or plumbing work carried out for your new appliance.

During the installation, our installers will have to interrupt your gas supply to safely install the product. When the gas supply is reconnected, we’ll endeavour to restart any gas appliances in your home, however, Comet isn’t responsible for any appliance that fails to restart, including central heating and gas boilers.

Finally, we can only install in domestic properties.
